CHIP OFF THE OLDFounded in 1978 we are a Ladies Cotswold Morris side based in Derby. As the side wished to dance Cotswold Morris a tradition more usually associated with Men’s Morris, we gave ourselves the name "Chip off the Old".
The kit comprises an individually chosen coloured blouse with tights to match, and a cream coloured skirt with a band of the chosen colour around the hem. There is a black belt, from which hang ribbons, and black character shoes with bell pads.
Practices take place every Wednesday from 8pm at St Mary’s' Community Centre, Darley Lane, Derby between September and May. In June, July and August, together with other Morris sides, the team dances out at pubs in the locality. The team also performs at festivals and other similar events.
We are a very open and friendly side currently consisting of 11 dancers and 4 musicians. We are always glad to welcome new women dancers, and musicians of either gender.
